Sweet Potato Casserole

This sweet potato Casserole is sure to be a hit at your next holiday gathering. its full of flavor and super easy to make.

The most important step in this recipe is BAKING the sweet potatoes.

BAKE, NOT BOIL!

I know it might seem quicker to peel and boil them, but by doing so you lose all the natural sugar from the sweet potato. Baking takes a little longer, but trust me you’ll be glad that you did.

Wash the sweet potatoes, place them on a baking sheet, pierce them with a FORK, and bake them in the oven at 400. sit back and let the oven do all the work.

the baking Time will vary depending on the size of the sweet potato. Usually 1-1.5 hours. (Flip after 45 mins.) AFTER THEY’VE COOKED AND THEY’RE TENDER Remove them from oven.

SEPaRATE THE SKIN FROM THE FLESH AND Add the sweet potatoes to a large bowl with Vanilla extract, butter, brown sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, and sweetened condensed milk.

I mash and mix by hand because i prefer the more chunky texture. if you want a more smooth consistency, feel free to use a mixer.

The great thing about this recipe is that it’s ‘fool proof’.

give it a taste test before adding it to your baking dish. if you want more sweetness, add more brown sugar. if you feel like it needs more cinnamon, add it.

once it’s to your liking, transfer it into a baking dish. prepare the crumble topping and add on top.

bake for 30 minutes or until it’s golden brown on top. serve and enjoy!
