Word of the year

Let’s talk about the Word of the Year. You know, the word that’s supposed to magically align your life, manifest your dreams, and make you an all-around better person in 365 days. I’ve been racking my brain for weeks trying to find the perfect one. Something punchy. Something inspiring. Something that screams, “Look at me, I’ve got my life together!”

And the only word that keeps popping up? Balance.

Balance. The most yawny, corporate wellness retreat word there is. I wanted something flashy, something that gives you goosebumps when you hear it. But no, my brain just keeps whispering: Balance.

At first, I fought it. I told myself, “Balance is boring. ‘Create your perfect Balance’ has been my mantra for the last 4 years’ Balance is predictable. Balance isn’t the word for a girl who’s trying to shake things up in 2025!” But here’s the thing… as much as I hate to admit it, balance is kind of necessary.

Without balance, I’m either overworking myself into burnout or letting my fitness routine take over my social life. Balance is boring, sure, but so is falling flat on your face because you were trying to do all the things at once.

So, here we are. I’ve reluctantly accepted that balance is my word for 2025. It’s not sexy, but it’s solid. It’s going to remind me to pause, breathe, and set boundaries because I don’t want another year of chaos disguised as productivity.

Balance is necessary. It’s the tightrope walker who keeps going even when the rope wobbles. It’s the person who says, “Nope, I can’t add another thing to my plate,” and means it

So, here’s to a balanced 2025. To finding the sweet spot between work and rest and effort and ease. And who knows, maybe next year I’ll pick a word with a little more “wow.” But for now, I’m leaning into the boring brilliance of balance.

What about you? What’s your word of the year, and are you totally in love with it or reluctantly rolling with it, like me? Let me know.
