HAPPY NEW YEAR

Happy New Year! 2018 was a great year I set out a lot of goals. Most of them I accomplished, then there were some that I let defeat me (clears throat my blog clears throat again). This year that ain’t happening!

I’m one of those people who love the New Year! Just like I love Mondays. It’s like a fresh start and a new beginning. Every year I make goals and resolutions and this year is no different.

I know some people say it’s cliche’ to make goals every time the new year comes around, I beg to differ.

I say SET THOSE GOALS and make it happen!!

Just like rest of the world one of my goals for 2018 (and 2017, and 2016, and 2015 ok you get the picture haha) was to get healthy.

Although it’s always a work in progress I definitely made great strides towards that goal last year.

When setting goals and planning out your year keep these seven tips in mind.

  1. SET REALISTIC GOALS

Although my goal was to lose weight I knew I couldn’t lose 40 pounds in a month. No matter how hard I tried. So each month I set a realistic amount of weight that I wanted to lose.

  2. BE SPECIFIC WHEN SETTING GOALS

Just like Tip number one, not only is it important to set realistic goals its important to be SPECIFIC. Each month I was specific with the amount I wanted to lose.

  3. SET SMALL DAILY GOALS

EVERY DAY I made a decision that would help me get closer to my health and fitness goal. Daily goals like going to the gym and Preparing healthy meals vs. eating take out.

  4. REMEMBERING YOUR WHY

This one is very important bc there will be some struggling days. There were times were I was offered cookies and cupcakes and during those times I had to remember why I started this health and fitness.

  5. SPEAK AFFIRMATIONS DAILY

Sometimes you just have to have a pep talk with yourself. Like ‘girl you can do this’, ‘you are strong’, ‘you are smart’ some times we just need to hear those things.

  6. GET AN ACCOUNTABILITY PARTNER

I personally think it’s important to have someone to help keep you accountable. It could be your partner, a friend, a mentor, or your pastor. It doesn’t have to be the same person for every goal. For my health and fitness journey I had my health coach and my husband, and my for my financial goal I had my Aunt Tracy who is great at budgeting.

  7. GRACE

Give yourself some grace! Start each day with the best intentions of making the best decisions but realize there will be good and bad days.

    Cheers to twenty-nineteen!

Here are some of my goals that I’m Fully committed to this year!

  • Publish my Children’s book

  • Become a child safety technician

  • Continue on my health journey

  • Write more consistently

  • Get reconnected with my women’s bible study group.

  • Have more intentional date nights

  • Be more organized

  • More experiences less ‘things’

What are your goals for 2019? What are you doing to accomplish them?
